Foundation
Building a strong foundation in any field or business takes commitment and effort, and does not resort to shortcuts, tricks, or hacks. Each foundation must be meticulously constructed and studied to guarantee the stability and sustainability of the business.
With this in mind, we at HelpeerZ decided to incorporate different scientific theories and insights from renowned psychologists to inform the development of our application. Drawing from their extensive work provides us with valuable insights for devising effective solutions to the significant challenges present in current social media platforms. One study that plays a vital role in building HelpeerZ is the 1920 journal article by Dr. Edward Thorndike titled “A Constant Error in Psychological Ratings,” which described the halo effect. The halo effect is when a single trait or overall impression of a person, company, or product positively affects our judgment of their other traits, involving the unjustified extension of general judgments to specific traits.[1] We utilized Dr. Thorndike's research to identify a significant issue we deem worthy of solving—cognitive bias. Our solution involves developing a metric named HALO, designed to assist users in forming more logical judgments of individuals or organizations.
We've also adopted Dr. Martin Seligman's positive psychology theory, a scientific approach to studying human flourishing, as a foundation for our platform. This theory, supported by positive psychology co-founders Dr. Christopher Peterson and Dr. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, emphasizes the positive aspects and strengths of individuals and communities as a key element in ethically designing our social networking platform.[2]
Dr. Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences has also significantly influenced the development of our Domains: Knowledge, Skills, Talents, Interests, and Hobbies. These Domains reflect the core strengths and abilities of individuals, where various intelligences can be observed. For example, Knowledge aligns with Logical-Mathematical intelligence for users excelling in math or science, such as accountants or scientists. Skills are associated with Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence for those with exceptional hand and body coordination, like dancers or mechanics. Talents may be linked to Visual-Spatial intelligence for users showcasing exemplary skills in illustration and videos, such as photographers, artists, and designers. Interests can be observed through Interpersonal or Intrapersonal intelligence for users adept at evaluating emotions, motivations, and relationships, as seen in customer service and entrepreneurship. Hobbies may be related to Musical intelligence for users inclined towards sounds and rhythm, like singers and composers.[3][4]
With these elements, we confidently claim that HelpeerZ has a solid foundation grounded in science. We are on the right track, and we encourage everyone to lead meaningful lives both in the physical and digital realms, not just for ourselves but also for others. Join us and make the world a better place.
